In addition to AI, shareholders are also interested in our gaming business and our acquisition of Activision Blizzard King. Satya, how are you feeling about the early return on that investment and just progress on our overall gaming strategy over the last year?

SATYA NADELLA: Yeah, I mean, I'm feeling very, very good about where we are in gaming. In fact, right now, this is like the peak season for gaming, obviously with Black Ops and the new Call of Duty, and it's just been fantastic to see the launch and the marketing around it, the buzz around it and the love for gaming.

If I think about it, right, we chose the secular growth category in entertainment, which we think is gaming, and said, let's double down on it, let's – and it's been a passion for Microsoft ever since.

In fact, I think Flight Simulator launched before Windows or Office even, and so it's like one of the longest franchises in this company. And so we said, let's take that joy of gaming everywhere. And that's why even these ads with Xbox now, where we are redefining what it means to be an Xbox fan, it's about being able to enjoy Xbox on all your devices.

So our strategy with Activision content now is in full force. We feel fantastic about the progress we've made. And more importantly, I think, long term, as a company, we can bring the best of AI innovation, cloud innovation, console innovation, PC innovation to build the best games that can be enjoyed by gamers everywhere.

Switch se dobro drzi, a Xbox nastavlja drasticno padanje prodaje u svojoj najvecoj teritoriji.
 
Info o budzetima tri COD igare iz sudskih zapisa parnice u kojoj se Activision brani da nisu odgovorni za popularizaciju automatskog oruzja kod omladine [masovna pucnjava u Uvalde skoli iz 2022]:

  • Black Ops III (2015): "Treyarch developed the game over three years with a creative team of hundreds of people, and invested over $450 million in development costs over the game's lifecycle." (Kelly also discloses that it has sold 43 million copies.)
  • Modern Warfare (2019): "Infinity Ward developed the game over several years and has spent over $640 million in development costs throughout the game's lifecycle." (41 million copies sold)
  • Black Ops Cold War (2020): "Treyarch and Raven Software took years to create the game with a team of hundreds of creatives. They ultimately spent over $700 million in development costs over the game's lifecycle." (30 million copies sold)


"Game's lifecycle" verovatno znaci i razvoj igre i dugacka post-launch podrska za MP.

+na sve ovo jos i marketing.
 
Ostaviće moguće samo digitalne konzole u prodaji. Logičnije od iznenadnog prestanka proizvodnje or smth.
 

Over in hardware, it was a tough year for the console market, with sales of games consoles down 21% year-on-year.
PS5 was the best-selling platform across tracked markets, but sales fell 20%.
Nintendo Switch sales were down 15%, while Xbox Series X/S sales dropped 48%.
The console space had a tough year with a lack of major releases, plus the fact the Switch was in its eighth year on sale.
