Asus ROG ALLY

Bukvalno je sve bilo instant, zaklopim, otvorim i dok otvaram me čeka login screen.

Treba nam 3D cache sto pre u ovakvim uredjajima, i to sto vise slojeva.

Mogu ga preimenovati u "maximum battery drainage" mod.

Nemci kazu ROG Ally Z1 Extreme ce kostati 799€ u Evropi. Stize u junu.

ASUS ROG Ally Unboxing video shows specs of 16GB of memory as HBM3 6400MHz from within Windows

Portuguese Youtuber with 1.56M subscribers shows some interesting ROG Ally stuff such as the memory being HBM3:
Other stuff if you care:
  • Console Specs in its Box [1:40]
  • As reported here the RC71L is indeed the Extreme model
  • Fingerprint Sensor (Was already known but he is surprised about it) [5:33]
  • He says 512GB feels like it is low for storage but you can add a SD Card [6:20]
  • The handheld seems to be quite fast even with a game, Netflix and Edge browser open at the same time [7:30]
  • ASUS Overlay with options to control resolution, refresh rate, FPS Limit, Game profiles, Keyboard (Virtual keyboard), AMD RSR (Upscaling like FSR but better since it is done at a driver level) and real-time monitoring (likely FPS, CPU % usage etc) [8:18]
  • Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Gameplay (no FPS overlay, seems like 30FPS but the graphics are too clean so is likely High/max settings) [8:26]
  • Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay (no FPS overlay, seems like 30FPS but the graphics are too clean so is likely High/max settings) [10:00]
  • Street Fighter 6 Gameplay (no FPS overlay, seems like 30FPS but the graphics are too clean so is likely High/max settings) [10:53]
  • One thing to note is that the video wasn't recorded at 60FPS (you can click the cog icon on the Youtube video to check) so it might be giving a wrong idea of the actual FPS.
PS: This video of ETA PRIME shows what FPS could be like at low settings while changing between 15 and 30 TDP:
Note: I found about this here, since Portuguese is my main language i went to check the video and decided to take a look at it and translate key points and added time stamps after the messages above.

ASUS ROG Ally RAM is soldered (not replaceable), Battery and SSD easy to replace, no Hall Effect Joysticks, CP2077 and Far Cry 6 "definitely push 60FPS on average"

As said in the previous post and suspected by AnandTech, the (16GB) RAM is now confirmed soldered and therefor cannot be replaced (unless maybe you have knowledge in soldering and you have access to those specific parts/chips).
RAM (Tech-Critter):
I do understand why it is soldered since the SO-DIMM slots will take up some Z-height.
Dismantling (Tech-Critter):
How about the ROG Ally then? Well, we got our hands on a fully dismantled Ally and I have to say, I was impressed. There are a few screws and one of them is a popup screw to help you lift the entire backplate off the device easily. This idea was lifted directly from their ROG laptops – and I truly like this feature.
Battery (Tech-Critter):
If you do want to swap out the battery as well, then you can also unscrew it easily but once again – you’ll be voiding the warranty too since there’s a sticker there.
Joysticks (Pokde):
the joystick themselves are attached to a dedicated daughterboard, so in theory you can swap these out to a Hall Effect-based joystick should you ever need to.
It was already reported by some websites that there were no Hall Effect Joysticks, however i still see people asking this.
There are quite a few PCB photos now and in this case also the joysticks, which shows a tiny PCB and two tiny screws holding the Joysticks, which can also be seen on the Tech-Critter PCB photos.
SSD (Tech-Critter):
Once opened, we’re presented with the NVMe SSD that can easily be swapped out. It’s unfortunate that we can’t reuse our M.2 2280 SSDs but hey – M.2 2230 SSDs used in the ROG Ally are still easy to find in online
SSD (Pokde):
The PCB photos of the SSD seem to be easier to read on Pokde, the SSD used is "MTFDKBK512QFM" from Micron, and it can be read that it has Munich (Germany) and London (UK) addresses on them, this might mean that in Europe it will use Micron SSD and in the US it will use the previously reported Western Digital SSD.
FPS/Performance (GamerBraves):
Far Cry 6 and Cyberpunk 2077 felt very smooth with no lag or stuttering on its mid-level graphics setting. Just by looking at it, both games definitely push 60FPS on average.
Possibly at 720p/1080p with RSR and 30TDP, since the article author doesn't mention settings besides "mid".
And Street Fighter 6:
The event also featured a demo for Street Fighter 6, which had the Ally hooked up to a larger television. The game was fast stand responsive as a fighting game should be. The fact that a game that hasn’t even been released yet runs so well on the device while playing on television is quite a testament to its capability.
